Payment timing
What does “no prepayment” mean?
It usually means the full room price is not collected when the reservation is made. It does not automatically describe cancellation, card, deposit, or fee rules.
What it can mean
The exact rate may collect payment later, at the property, shortly before arrival, or according to another schedule shown on the booking page. The wording varies across suppliers and properties.
Payment timingWhen and by whom is the room charge collected?
CancellationWhat deadline and penalty apply?
Card guaranteeIs a valid card still required to hold the room?
Deposit or holdCan the property collect or place one at check-in?
What it does not promise
- It does not promise penalty-free cancellation.
- It does not promise that a card is unnecessary.
- It does not promise that the property will skip an incidentals hold or deposit.
- It does not promise that taxes, parking, resort fees, or other charges are included.
Why exact-rate review matters
The same hotel can sell prepaid, partially refundable, and flexible rates for the same dates. A room name or hotel brand is not enough to determine the conditions. Open the specific rate and read the final terms before reserving.
Use the five-part check
Review payment timing, cancellation, card requirements, deposits or holds, and total property cost as separate questions.
